Details November 28, 2008 I think this is a good book. What I really like about this one is it's all in color. I purchased this one and the askmen.com Style Bible. I like this one better because it has the color pages and shows examples of what goes together and even what doesn't go. Over all, I do recommend this book but I have to give it 4 stars because I think it could have been better. I wanted to see more explanations and different combinations. The book covers everything including formal wear, jeans, ties & how to fold them (two different ways), shoes, jewelry, tshirts, fitting of clothes, mixing and matching, designs that go together or clash, etc. Another thing I thought was cool was with each chapter it shows a picture of a well known designer with their opinion about things related to style.
Pricey, But Essential October 31, 2008 I bought this book based on a reference in Secrets of the A Game by Logan Edwards. I originally purchased this book to help me find the right look to help me attrac women, but I actually got much more out of it. Of course, it DID help out with attracting women, but also gave me a better perspective on what to wear in many different circumstances in life. I highly recommend it.
Style Manual October 31, 2008 This book is awesome. I love how every chapter talks about some specific peace of clothing or accessories and the format is just great. It's like reading the magazine but better! I've learned so much! Definitely a must have for a metrosexual!
Good specific info September 21, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Someone said this was for someone who lives in a cave with no new info, but I found the specific info (how a jack should fit, etc) to be very useful. The sections of how to pair certain things was helpful as well.
Living in Southern California, I found some of the info not useful (wipe salt off your shoes before coming inside? Salt?), and "after fall wear bla bla" we don't care about fall here, or snow melting salt, or over coats. Its sunny every day.
Other than that it was great! Great as reference guide as well.
Good ideas and thoughtful touches September 10, 2008 I agree with the other reviewers that this is a great guide for young men who are trying to learn to dress nicely, perhaps for the first time in their lives. I keep it on my dresser and find myself referring to it frequently.
My favorite feature of the book is that for each basic piece (white dress shirt, gray trousers, navy blazer, etc.), it shows several ideas for what else to wear, to dress it up or down. Crucially, these show the clothes laid out as if a person was wearing them, but without the person. This eliminates the mental anguish of having to look at a guy who's much better looking than you and decide if you like how he looks. That is the worst part of reading GQ.
