I grew up in an extended family environment. We lived with my grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins, since it is a traditional custom in India. Naturally, there were lots of kids around to play with, yet our parents never let us forget the family values and the culture we come from. "While in school, I did a lot of painting and creative work. I often fantasized about becoming a designer. My plan was to study design after my Masters in Business. During that time, my brother had become established in the garment export industry, so I went to work with him right after finishing my Masters. Everything happened so suddenly, my dream of becoming a designer remained unfulfilled. I worked for my brother for two years, and during this time I enrolled in a gemology course, because I had always had a keen interest in the colors and sparkles of the different stones.
